Guest Rower Policies

Rowers are welcome to row with FVRA as a guest prior to joining, if they are traveling through or are visiting from another club. Guest rows are available with Recreational Sweep as space allows and with at least 3 days notice or, as a sculler following the guidelines listed below. Sweep programming may not be available depending on when a guest rower is hoping to join but we will do our best to accommodate.

Documentation

Any guest rower must have all forms and registrations submitted prior to joining on the water.

This includes,

  1. USRowing Waiver
  2. USRowing Membership (Learn to Row, Basic, Championship)
  3. Signed Swim Waiver (Available at the boathouse)
  4. Experience Questionnaire Submitted
  5. Fee paid (can be given to coach at the row if paying cash or check)

Fees

1 Row – $35
3 Rows – $95

A registration link will be provided once the required experience questionnaire is submitted. 

Note: If a guest will be rowing with an FVRA Level 2 sculler, as detailed below, payment must be submitted online before the planned row.

Boat Usage

  • Guest rowers looking to join in a single must join during a coached practice or when an FVRA coach is on the water
  • Anyone joining in a single will be assigned equipment based on experience level at an FVRA coach’s discretion and as equipment availability allows. The guest rower must be entered by the FVRA coach on the online equipment sign out log.
  • Rowers in a single must stay with the coach/coached program while on the water
  • If a personal boat is being used it must be cartopped to the water and cannot be stored at the waterfront
  • Guest rowers can join in a double (2x) during a non-coached session as long as they are accompanied by at least a Level 2 sculler as detailed by the FVRA Handbook and the use is approved by an FVRA coach

Participation Limitations

  • No more than 3 guest rows per calendar year, after the 3rd row the rower must purchase a membership. Fees previously paid for guest rows do not apply to membership fees although membership fees can be pro-rated if purchasing full year membership mid-year. Custom pro-rated registration links will be provided if nessessary.
  • Guest use of equipment is for recreational rowing only and is not to be used for private coaching, race preparation and/or high rate (26+) rows.
